Medical frustration

Going to a medical doctor when you're sick is usually a relief. I had great medical providers and great care, but sometimes they were as frustrated as I was. Because I had celiacs spur, and it's an autoimmune disorder, other things came along with it. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, IBS, ulcerative colitis, raynaunds, and the beginning stages of lupus. All of which were all very challenging in their own way.  I longed for treatments for years to try to get my symptoms under control so I could go about my daily life. I wanted to share what a few medical providers have said to me over the years hopefully some of you can relate, if not I hope you find some humor in it.
  • "Really? your here again what's wrong with you this time?"
  • "It's all in your head there's nothing wrong with you."
  • " You just want attention."
  • "Lets do another blood test."
  • "We can't tell what's wrong with you, go get another biopsy."
  • "You're a medical a nominally."
  • "You're just depressed."
  • "You're just making all this up."
  • "You're cheating on your gluten free diet."
  • "You're anorexic."
  • "You should go see another doctor."
  • "Take this medication it will help."
  • The worst one was when I was14 and my gal bladder had been bad for 8 months and I had numerous tests done. They finally decided that it was only working 12%  and that I needed it out soon. The doctor that I was going to go to was on vacation and they didn't have any available surgeons unless I went through the emergency room. The hospital suggested that we call the next closest hospital to see if they could do it. My mom called  the surgeon on the phone and told him our situation and he replied " if your daughter would lose 20 pounds she wouldn't need her gal bladder out.  I'm not taking a gal bladder out on a 14 year old because she is fat." My mom just hung up the phone and I began to sob, I only weighed 70 pounds at the time and I was so upset I just wanted to go home and deal with the pain. We ended up going back to the first hospital and going through the emergency room. The surgery went well and  I felt so much better. Three weeks later I ran a 5k and started gaining some weight back.

I wasn't a stranger to blood tests, biopsies, hospitals, and random diagnosis. It wasn't until I discovered an NAET doctor that almost all of my problems or autoimmune disorders were associated with food allergys. I knew I had a gluten/wheat and milk/dairy problem but I didn't realize how much more I was allergic to and the problems they caused. As of today all of my autoimmune disorders are gone. I didn't realize how bad I felt until I stated feeling better. I missed out on so much in life because I was afraid to go out and do anything for fear of getting sick. Now I'm just trying to make up for lost time.
